Nothing But Hot Air

It may not be unique to Tigard, but it is the only town I've ever experienced it in.

Each year in June the town folk of Tigard come out for the annual Tigard Balloon

Festival. There are rides, booths, music, food and beer. But most people come to look at the balloons. If your there early enough you can watch them roll out the fabric, turn on the burns, fill up, and float away. In the evening they refill the balloons and when they fire the burners the glow.

The musics not great and neither is the food, but that doesn't matter. It is all about being together with other people, enjoying the park, and dreaming about floating away to some place different. Only in Oregon, at least for me

Dog Mountain Trail 2011

If you live in Oregon long enough, you find that you are being drawn to the outdoors whenever the weather allows it.  Today, we went for our 2nd annual Fathers Day Dog Mountain Hike.  We went for 6.2 miles, climbed 2800 ft. and were up and back in 3 1/2 hours.  I have to admit, it seemed like the trails were steep and a bit slippery up towards the top, but we were rewarded for our hard work with an incredible view and beautiful flowers.  Of course every long hike deserves a stop at Walking Man Pub in Stevenson.  While technically this hike is in Washington, it is just a quick hop over the bridge of the God's to this increadible hike.  Here are some pictures for you to enjoy.

Angles Rest Trail

The sun is back out, and with that so is my camera. Last weekend we went hiking on Angels Rest trail. Here are a couple of the pictures. You have to agree, Oregon is a great place if you love the out doors.
